Notice the symptoms, not a guessed cause
A rapid clicking sound, slow cranking, dim dashboard lights or a battery warning are useful details to report. They do not prove the battery is the problem: a starter, charging system or another fault can also stop a car from starting. Note what appears on the dashboard and whether the engine turns over.
When a jump start may help
A jump start may be an option when a suitable 12-volt battery has lost charge and the vehicle manufacturer allows it. It is not a repair for every no-start. If the car starts and then fails again, or warning lights remain on, explain that when arranging further help.
Do not risk an unsafe attempt
Do not connect leads if the manual is unclear, the battery is damaged or leaking, or you cannot identify the correct terminals. Keep clear of traffic and do not touch orange high-voltage cables. Hybrid and electric vehicles have model-specific procedures; follow the manual or leave the job to a suitable provider.
When another service may be needed
If a jump start is unsuitable or the car still will not start, ask about battery assistance or recovery. A clicking sound can have more than one cause, and a warning light may need proper diagnosis. Share what you observed rather than asking for a particular repair.

If roadside help is not suitable, the next option may be breakdown recovery and vehicle transport.
